We’ll experience the biggest festivities as the year comes to an end. We are currently celebrating the Diwali festival. A week later, there’s Thanksgiving and next thing we know, it’s Christmas, followed by New Year. With the pandemic still present in our lives, as we celebrate with our family and friends, remember to adhere to the safety precautions.
Here are some tips we’ve gathered from the experts:
- Always wear a mask whenever you go out.
Never remove it unless you need to eat. And when you eat, avoid talking too close to your company. Also, make sure your mask is clean before wearing it. Before removing it from your face, remember to wash your hands first. - Minimize your going-out time to max. 20 minutes.
If it is not necessary to go out, stay at home especially if you have children and seniors in the house who are more fragile in this situation. Your resistance may be strong, but you can be a carrier and infect other people. - Avoid crowded places.
If you really need to go out, at least avoid crowded places where the chance of getting an infection is high. These can be restaurants, malls, concerts, cinemas, bars, etc. Check if these places are practicing the one-meter social distancing. These places must also look clean and sanitized.
- Plan virtual events.
Think twice before scheduling a big gathering. You can still celebrate the festivities together virtually. Be more creative! - Keep your hands sanitized.
Avoid touching anything in public spaces. If unavoidable to do so, apply hand sanitizer right away. - Exercise social distancing.
If you really need to meet up, check everyone’s temperature beforehand. Everyone has to feel good on that day and without any flu history in the past two weeks. Say ‘no to hugging’ this time! As much as possible, keep it up to four people and make sure that there is plenty of room to move around.
You probably heard these tips hundreds of times this year, but the worst thing we can do now is to disregard these reminders and go on like everything is normal. Let us be more patient and be more vigilant this flu season.
Most importantly, don’t forget to share these tips with your loved ones and friends before meeting up. A simple reminder goes a long way!
